Dear Readers,

.

Thanks to all for your replies and even from readers in the UK  – they have given me fabulous ideas to host an In Our Shoes evening event in the world’s most inspiring city of London!

.

Congrats to Helen of New Jersey who joined me last night as my guest with The Moms to see the spectacular revival of Ghost on Broadway!  Helen shared of the challenges she faces working with competitive women in the workplace and how she has had to change her M-O to match the culture in her firm. While that may seem the safer option, it will only get you so far. There are reasons why women take on these aggressive roles in their career. What’s most important is that you remain authentic to who you are.  We make a false assumption that being “one of the boys” will get us further and create the necessary bonding we need to raise our rank.

.

News flash: never assume that because you have a nice working relationship with senior management that they will go to bat for you.

It certainly is a possibility but in the end, the best thing you’ve got going for you is your personal style and leadership strategy that must be true to form. Interestingly, you may notice that  aggressive women have aggressive managers – the apple doesn’t fall far does it? You want to play a bigger game.

More wisdom, tools and solutions to come in the Dream Shoe Seminar –  NY is now wait list only, we still have seats in London!
