Ready to discover your gutsy moves?

If you’ve ever doubted your courage barometer, hang on because I’ve created this video for you. Here I walk you through a series of questions that will prove that you have already gone gutsy in your life and may not be owning up to that. If you can do it once, you can do it again!

But first, let’s do the lay of the land here. There are three fears that generally prevent us from acting on the things that we really want. Things that we know are good for us and yet we hold ourselves back from pursuing what we have the potential to create.

Those three fears are the fear of failure, the fear of looking foolish, and the fear of rejection. They drive our everyday decisions. In fact, I can guarantee you in the last 24 to 48 hours, one of them probably showed up before you made that phone call or sent an email to someone.

Before I forget, I want to be sure you know about my audio leadership course (it’s free) that’s designed to help you own your authority in your career and it works. It’s based on two decades of leading in Corporate America, (I’m a former Wall St. Executive) and those professionals I coach here at In Our Shoes

Now back to acknowledging that you have already made gutsy moves. I’m going to ask you a series of questions here so grab a journal! 📖

When have you acted on something in your life that you didn’t want to do and you did it anyway?

Maybe your hands were even shaking. Maybe you had anxiety. Your body tensed up. Maybe someone coached you, it doesn’t matter. You did it.

When did you speak up in your life and hold your ground?

Maybe it was in a meeting or in a personal relationship.

When have you initiated a conversation that no one else wanted to have?

This could be a business or family related discussion where you’re calling out the elephant in the room. The silence was deafening.

When have you had such clarity on what you’re supposed to do, but you had so much fear of whether it would actually pan out and you acted anyway?

You took one action that moved you closer to that goal because your gut instinct felt so strong. When we talk about gutsy moves, and intuition, this is impulse energy. These are energetic pulses, things that just nudge you into action such as getting off the elevator or making a phone call now instead of two hours later or maybe to apply for a job in an industry you have never worked in.

That’s what I mean by listening and feeling. That’s why the body is such a powerful indicator and signal for when we should lead with our gut and go for it, in spite of those three fears.

Okay, back to the questions.

When have you ended a relationship that no longer served you?

Possibly at the time, the thought of being alone surfaced and not having the security of that relationship had you scared and possibly had you even shaking, but you ended it anyway.

Gutsy leadership is not a ballsy way of living. It’s taking small micro-action in an incremental way.

Take five small gutsy actions – things that you wouldn’t normally do that would make you uncomfortable, let’s say over a two or three week time period. I promise you will look back after those weeks and say, “You know what, all of those actions led me to where I am right now. I just didn’t see it then.”

That’s what I mean by taking micro-action.

What is your gut saying to you right now, in this moment that you should do? I’m going to give you a quick sign that you can look for, to know that you’ve made the right decision.

If you are feeling excited and nervous at the same time – when those two emotions co-exist, you’re leading from your gut.

It’s okay to have fear. We all have fears. Just never make a decision from a place of fear. Make a decision from a place where you’ve been feeling into your body. The mind will take over and try to shoot us down with limiting beliefs. The ego has a hand in this as well. The ego had a place back in pre-civilization days; it kept us free from fire and safe from harm. However today, the ego goes too far.

Never make a decision based on fear, especially those three fears. Step back, walk away, and and keep listening to your body and make a decision that’s based on faith.

Are you feeling excited and nervous at the same time? If so, you’re in the right place.

All right, I hope this was helpful. To your gutsy moves!
