Allora! one of my favorite Italian filler words. It means “and so…” or “thus”.. Just draws you in, particularly when Italians stretch out the ‘allora’ at the start of a sentence to buy themselves a little time when they don’t know what to say. Always made me laugh listening to my father, Giovanni Santoro, sprinkle that word in his broken English accent. He came to the States as an eager twenty-something year old. Quite grateful he made that gutsy move and settled in. ; )
